I started a bit later than I should have. The ship was scheduled to be cleared at 0600. By the time I got the free port bus to town it was 0700 and 0720 when I finished walking to the train station. I had half the port bus following me because I actually knew where I was going. I missed the 0718 train, so I was on the 0744 train which arrived at Roma Termini at 0850. I walked to the coliseum and was able to get a ticket for a guided tour which I was unsuccessful of doing via the internet earlier . The tour gave additional access to the platform on the arena, the underground part of the coliseum and the highest section that only opened 2 weeks ago.

After the tour I visited the Palatino which was included in my ticket. There were some good views from the hill. I rushed back to the train station and got the 1542 regional train back to Civitavecchia. I was on the free port bus by 1725 and at the ship at 1740. I had about 50 minutes to spare, but I didn't want to risk a train being late...
