Late start today. Checked out of the hotel at 0830. Took a taxi to the airport - rain was pretty heavy and it wasn't that much more than the streetcar. The first available Shinkansen to Kyoto was at 0950. Another $100.53 for a train ticket. Later we found out that it was one of the last trains heading north due to the Typhoon Trami.
The train is fast....
People attempting to get on the train we got off in Kyoto. They filled all of the train, including the aisles.
We found most attractions were closed, malls, restaurants, etc.
The hotel I am staying at - APA Hotel Kyoto-Ekimae. It was a bargain at about $75 a night. Check-in was at 3:00 PM, so we dropped our luggage and went exploring.

Typhoon strikes again!

Since the Railway Museum was closed and we thought rain was imminent we went to Nishiki market. It was partially closed, but still interesting.

Buses stopped running - yay Typhoon. So we took the subway back to the hotel. And yes the subway was closing at 7:00 PM.
The Kyoto Tower was lit up nicely.
Finally in the room. It is small, but big enough. The end of the bed is nearly against the wall. I do have to say it is 4+ star quality despite the small size.
