I'm through immigration and customs. The flight from Toronto was good. Air Canada actually serves alcohol even in economy. I was actually one of the very few people to have an empty seat next to me. I guess my evil genius plan to try and have a full row to myself partially worked.

The tour company transferred us to the hotel via a bus. I thought the building in the picture below that we saw along the highway had an interesting design.

The hotel was the 'Beijing West International Trade Grand Hotel'. It is a nice hotel, but a distance from the tourist attractions. It is nearby the metro and a KFC and McDonald's were located in a walkable distance.

Since dinner was not included (and I knew I would be overwhelmed by Chinese food in a matter of days) we ate dinner at KFC and walked down the street to explore nearby
